There are two options for installing the udpates (Firmware) for this device. Information for each is listed below: Checking for new Firmware Updates This method is the easiest and recommend method of upgrading the Firmware on the Range Extender. By clicking on Check Now, the Range Extender will automatically search the Amped Wireless servers for an update. If one is available it will prompt you to download and install the update. If you are connected wirelessly you may need to reconnect to the Network once it has rebooted. To use this method, an Internet connection is required. This means the Router must be successfully connected to Internet access. Upgrading the Firmware from a File Firmware update can also be downloaded as a zip file from the Amped Wireless Support Webpage. You will need to have an unzipping program to open the file. Inside the file will be a text document with details on the current firmware release and instructions on how to upgrade the firmware. The firmware file will be a file with a “.bin” extension. Save the firmware file on your computer’s desktop and select “Choose File” from the link on the right to locate your firmware file.  Be sure to only use “.bin” files when upgrading the firmware. Click Upload when you have selected the file. The upgrading process should take a few minutes.  Do not disconnect any cables from the Router at this time. If you are connected wirelessly you may need to reconnect to the Router once it has rebooted. Upgrade Firmware The Range Extender uses software (Firmware) to operate. In the event that a new Firmware file is available, you may update it here. During the upgrade process, DO NOT power off the device to avoid damage to the Range Extender.
