Otherwise, select the desired protocol. Options displayed on the screen will vary depending on your previous selections. Host Name: Optional name for the gateway. Domain Name: Optional domain name for the gateway. MTU: Most often the Maximum Transmission Unit is determined automatically. MTU Size: The largest packet size of a frame. The minimum is 128. For PPPoE, the maximum is 1492, otherwise 1500. DNS Type: Select Static to manually enter Primary and Secondary DNS Addresses Primary DNS Address: Address used by the gateway to lookup addresses. Secondary DNS Address: Optional DNS Address if Primary fails. PPP Username: This is the Username that your ISP has assigned you for identifying yourself to the Internet service. PPP Password: This is the Password that your ISP has assigned you for identifying yourself to the Internet service. Retype Password: This will verify that you typed it correctly the first time. PPP Auto Connect: This is a choice to have either an always on connection or a connection that will timeout on inactivity. Connection Timeout: Specifies the time in minutes before disconnect if there is no traffic over the Internet link. The timeout can range from 1 to 60 minutes. No PPP Credentials: This setting relates to how your Internet service provider authenticates with the gateway. Keep Alive: Determines if sessions are timed out. LCP Echo Failures: Change only under service provider guidance. LCP Echo Duration: Change only under service provider guidance. Single Static IP: Applicable to static IP address.
