This lets you offer Wi-Fi Internet access to your guests without compromising the security of your main network and the devices on that network. The guest network appears as a new, different Wi-Fi network. Users of the guest network cannot see other devices on the main network.  2.4 GHz   5 GHz  Guest Network Settings & Security Selected Guest Network MOTOROLA_GUEST (\) Help Displays the current Guest Network and enables switching between settings for different Guest Networks. Guest Network Disabled Enabled Help Enable or disable this guest network. Guest Network Name (SSID) Error - SSID must be at least one character but no more 32 Characters Help The guest network is given a name that identifies it to the devices joining the network. This name is the guest network's SSID (Service Set Identifier). It is the name that people will see and use when they are connecting to your guest network. You may keep the default name or change it to one that is easier to remember. IP Network LAN Guest Help The Guest Network can either be part of the Primary Network (LAN setting) or separate from Primary Network (Guest setting). When it is part of the Primary Network, devices on the Guest Network can access the devices on the Primary Network. When it is separate, devices on the Guest Network can not access devices on the Primary Network. IP Address Error - IP Address must be of the form xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and begin with either 10 or 192.168. Help The IP address is the address of the gateway on the Guest Network. Help This is the first IP address that the SBG6782-AC will automatically assign to a device on your home network. If you wish to manually assign IP addresses to devices, set the starting local address above the range reserved for fixed addresses. Note that the first address that the DHCP server will assign cannot be 0 in the last number since 0 has special meaning. Lease Pool Ending IP Address Error - IP Address must be of the form xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and begin with either 10 or 192.168. Lease Time Error - The Lease Time must be a number. Help This is the amount of time in seconds that an IP address is loaned to a device. When a device joins your network, the SBG6782-AC lends that device an IP address. When the device later leaves your network, the SBG6782-AC can then lend that IP address to a different device. In order to know which IP addresses are available, the SBG6782-AC lends devices an IP address for a specific period of time. This is known as the "lease time." When the lease time is reached, the IP address can be reused. If a device is staying connected to your network, the device will "renew" the lease, giving it more time to keep its assigned IP address. Without good security, intruders can not only use your network, but can intercept your Internet traffic and even gain access to your devices. The Guest Network of the SBG6782-AC offers two industry standard modes of Wi-Fi security: WPA2-PSK and WPA-PSK. WPA2-PSK offers the best security for your network and should be used unless you have devices that do not support WPA2-PSK. WPA2-PSK + WPA-PSK allows devices that do support WPA-PSK but not WPA2-PSK to connect with the network while still providing the added security of WPA2-PSK to the devices that do support it. Security Settings Encryption Disabled Help The Wi-Fi network can encrypt all of the data it carries. Two encryption modes are available: AES and both AES and TKIP. Passphrase   Show Passphrase Error - Passphrase must be at least 8 characters long and no more than 32 characters long. Help WPA-PSK is a simplified but still powerful form of WPA, most suitable for home wireless networking. WPA-PSK uses TKIP to automatically change the keys on a regular basis, making it much more difficult to break the encryption. The keys must be the same on the SBG6782-AC and each device that will connect to the network. Network Key 2 Use Error - Network Key 3 Use Error - Network Key 4 Use Error - Generate Keys Help A passphrase can be used to generate the encryption keys used on the network. The longer and more unique you make the passphrase, the better protected your network. Once you enter the passphrase, press "Generate" to create the keys.
