Your TG3492LG-YL router helps to protect your network by blocking incoming internet connections. This is an important feature that helps you to control which applications have access to your network. Sometimes you want to allow network access to a specific application in order to play a game, connect a device, or use an app. The Arris TG3492LG-YL can unblock certain incoming connections through port forwarding or by opening a port. You can open ports in your TG3492LG-YL by assigning specific ports to an IP address. Forwarding these ports directs incoming data to a specific device or application.
You need to follow the steps below to open ports in your Arris TG3492LG-YL router:
- On the computer or device that you are forwarding ports to, you will need to set up a static IP address.
- Login to your Arris TG3492LG-YL router.
- In your Arris TG3492LG-YL router, navigate to the IP and Port Filtering section.
- Click the Advanced Settings tab at the left of the screen.
- Click on the Security menu.
- Click on IP and Port Filtering.
- Create a IP and Port Filtering entry.

Step 1 - Setup A Static IP Address
In order to ensure that your ports remain open in your device even after it reboots, it is important to set up a static IP address in your device.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.
Step 2 - Login To Your Arris Router
The Arris TG3492LG-YL router uses a web interface to display router settings. In order to login to the Arris TG3492LG-YL router you need to use a web browser.
Open your favorite web browser. If you don't have a favorite or are not sure what this means, open up Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. If you are already in a browser window, go ahead and open up a new tab.

Find the address bar in your browser window. This is usually found at the top of the page, like in the image below.
Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your web browser and type in your router's IP address.
The Arris TG3492LG-YL router's default IP address is: 192.168.1.1
Once you have finished entering your router's IP address into the address bar, click the enter button on your keyboard. A box similar to the one below should appear.
To login, enter the username and password for the Arris TG3492LG-YLs. Important Note: If you have changed them in the past, you need to enter in those values.

- The default Arris TG3492LG-YL Router Password is: printed on router
Once you enter your username and password, click the Next button.

Step 3 - Find The Port Forwarding Section
You should be on the home page of your Arris TG3492LG-YL router once you have successfully logged in. Find the IP and Port Filtering section of your router.
- Find the Advanced Settings tab located near the left of the screen and click on it.
- Click on the menu labeled Security.
- Click IP and Port Filtering.
You should now be on a page that says IP and Port Filtering.
Step 4 - Create A Port Forward Entry
Forwarding ports in your router creates a path that allows data to get through your network firewall, and this could lead to malicious traffic on your network. So make sure that you must forward a port before actually doing so. However, the risk is very low, so do not let this warning stop you from making this change if you need to.
Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:
- TCP Ports: 3074
- UDP Ports: 3074

To start creating an entry, click the Create a New Rule button.

Put a check in the box marked Inbound.

Put a check in the box named Enabled.

For the Traffic Policy option, check Yes.

In the Protocol dropdown box, select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding. Choose Both if your router has that option. Otherwise, choose either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP and your router does not have the Both option, then you need to create two entries.

Make the All selection in the Source IP Address drop-down list.

Choose Single from the Destination IP Address drop-down box.

In the IPv6 Address box, enter the IP address that you want ports forwarded to. This may be the IP address of your computer or the IP address of another device on your network that you want to forward ports to.

Go ahead and enter the port number into the Source Port Range Start and the Source Port Range End boxes, to forward a single port. To forward a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the Source Port Range Start box and then enter the highest number of that range into the Source Port Range End box.

In the Destination Port Range box, enter the same values that you entered into the Source Port Range box.

To finish creating the entry, click on the button that says Add Rule.
