This Belkin F9K1102 v4 router has a firewall that helps protect your home network from unwanted Internet access. The firewall does this by blocking incoming and outgoing connections that have not been authorized. Sometimes when you play a game online or use an online application you need to have some additional connections opened to allow for a better overall experience. This process of unblocking ports is called a port forward.
Use this guide to learn how to properly port forward the Belkin F9K1102 v4 router. We will walk you through each of the following steps:
- First, we show you how to create a static IP address on the device or game console you plan on forwarding the ports to.
- Second, we will show you how to login to the Belkin F9K1102 v4 router.
- Next, it is time to find the port forwarding section of the router.
- Finally, we show you exactly how to configure the router to get your ports forwarded.

Step 1
It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

This step is important because you want a permanent IP address in your device. If you do not set up a permanent IP address in your device, then when you device reboots it may get a new IP address.

Step 2
It is now time to login to the Belkin F9K1102 v4 router. Your router uses a web interface. This means you need to login using a web browser. It really should not matter what browser you decide to use, we recommend picking a favorite. Some of the more common options are Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.
Now that you have picked a web browser, open it up and locate the address bar. This is at the top of the page like this:
Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your router and type in your router's IP address.
The default Belkin F9K1102 v4 IP Address is: 192.168.2.1

Once you have entered the router's IP address in the address bar, just press the Enter key. This takes you to the home page of the Belkin F9K1102 v4 router:

Step 3
Starting on that Home page. I'll show you what to do to get to the port forwarding page of the Belkin F9K1102 v4.
On the Home page, open up the link that says Advanced Settings.
In that new menu pick the option of Port Forwarding under the Firewall heading.
That should take you to the page you see above. If it doesn't, simply click the tab at the top labeled Port Forwarding.
Step 4
Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:
- TCP Ports: 3074
- UDP Ports: 3074

Put a checkmark in the On checkbox.
You need to name this entry in the Description box. The name does not make any difference in the forward; it's just there so that you can remember later why you setup this forward.
If you are forwarding a single port, enter that port number into both of the Inbound port and both of the Private port boxes. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the left hand Inbound port and Private port boxes. Then enter the highest number of that range into the right hand Inbound port and Private port boxes.
From the Type box select the protocol for the ports that you want to forward.
Enter the IP address to forward these ports to into the Private IP address box. If you are forwarding ports so you can run a program on a device other than your computer then you can enter your device's IP address into that box.
When you are finished, be sure to save your changes before you exit.
Testing The Ports
It is always a good idea to check the ports you just forwarded. In order to do this we recommend using our Open Port Checker.
