An important aspect of having a Billion router on your home network is internet security. In general, routers block incoming internet connections and protect your network by only allowing the connections that you specifically set up. Sometimes it is necessary to unblock certain connections in your router or open a port in order to play a game or use an application. To help you get a better connection for gaming or using an application, you can open a port in your BiPAC 8800AXL R2 and allow a direct connection.
The following steps will show you how to open ports on the Billion BiPAC 8800AXL R2 router:
- Go ahead and set up a static IP address on the computer or device that you are forwarding these ports to.
- Login to your Billion BiPAC 8800AXL R2 router.
- Navigate to the Virtual Servers section in your Billion BiPAC 8800AXL R2 router.
- Click the Configuration tab, which is at the left of the screen.
- Click on the NAT tab.
- Click on Virtual Servers.
- Create a Virtual Servers entry.

Step 1

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.
Step 2
The Billion BiPAC 8800AXL R2 router uses a web interface to display router settings. In order to login to the Billion BiPAC 8800AXL R2 router you need to use a web browser.
Open your favorite web browser. If you don't have a favorite or are not sure what this means, open up Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. If you are already in a browser window, go ahead and open up a new tab.

Find the address bar in your browser window. This is usually found at the top of the page, like in the image below.
Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your web browser and type in your router's IP address.
The Billion BiPAC 8800AXL R2 router's default IP address is: 192.168.1.254
After typing your router's IP address into the address bar, make sure to click the enter button on your keyboard. You should see a box similar to the one shown below.
To login, enter the username and password for the Billion BiPAC 8800AXL R2s. Important Note: If you have changed them in the past, you need to enter in those values.
- The default Billion BiPAC 8800AXL R2 Router Username is: admin
- The default Billion BiPAC 8800AXL R2 Router Password is: admin
Once you enter your username and password, click the Log In button.

Step 3
You should be on your routers home page once you complete logging in. Find the Virtual Servers section on the home page of the Billion BiPAC 8800AXL R2 router.
- Click on the Configuration tab, which is at the left of the screen.
- Click on the tab labeled NAT.
- Click on Virtual Servers.
You are now on the Virtual Servers page.
Step 4
Forwarding ports in your router creates a path that allows data to get through your network firewall, and this could lead to malicious traffic on your network. So make sure that you must forward a port before actually doing so. However, the risk is very low, so do not let this warning stop you from making this change if you need to.
Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:
- TCP Ports: 3074
- UDP Ports: 3074

To start adding an entry, click the button called Add.

Select your internet connection from the Interface drop-down box. If you're not sure what to select here, the WAN section of your router's Status page should mention something.

Choose Custom Service from the Server Name drop-down list.

Create a name for this forward and type it into the Custom Service box. Since the name does not have an effect on the functionality of the forward, choose a name that will help you remember why the forward was created.

Go ahead and enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to into the Server IP Address box. It is possible for this to be either the IP address of your computer or of any other device on your network that you want ports forwarded to. Alternatively you can select it from the list.

Unless you want to set up a specific time schedule, go ahead and choose Always On from the Time Schedule drop-down list.

Leave Exceptional Rule Group set to None unless you know what it's for and have a reason to set it otherwise.

Go ahead and enter the port number into the External Port Start and the External Port End boxes, to forward a single port. To forward a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the External Port Start box and then enter the highest number of that range into the External Port End box.

Select the protocol type of the ports that you are forwarding from the Protocol dropdown box. If your router has the option of Both, then go ahead and select that. Otherwise, select either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP, but your router does not have Both, then you will need to create two entries.

The Internal Port boxes should have auto-filled, but if they did not then go ahead and make sure they have the same information you entered in to the External Port boxes.

To finish adding an entry, find the Add button located near the bottom of the screen and click it.

Make sure to click the Save Config button at the bottom of the page to apply these changes, when you are completely finished.
