Fastest Cisco Linksys E3200 Router Open Port Guide

Your Cisco Linksys E3200 router has a basic firewall that helps protect your local network from unwanted Internet access. The firewall works by blocking incoming connections, some of which you may want unblocked for online games and applications. To unblock these needed connections you need to create what is called a a port forward.

Here on this page I will show you how to make a port forward on the Cisco Linksys E3200 router. The steps we will be covering here are:

How to setup a static IP address on the device you plan on forwarding these ports to.
How to login to the Cisco Linksys E3200 router web interface.
How to find the port forwarding page in the router's web interface.
How to setup a port forward for the online game or program of your choice.

Step 1

It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

Another way to get a permanent IP address is to set up a DHCP reservation.

This step is important because you want a permanent IP address in your device. If you do not set up a permanent IP address in your device, then when you device reboots it may get a new IP address.

Step 2

Now we can login to the Cisco Linksys E3200 router. Since your router uses a web interface you need to login using a web browser. Normally it doesn't matter which browser you decide to use, simply pick your favorite such as Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer.

Open up your web browser and find the address bar. It should look something like this:

Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your router and type in your router's IP address.

The default Cisco Linksys E3200 router IP address is: 192.168.1.1

After entering the IP address of your router you can simply press enter. If all goes well you will see the following screen:

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. If a login screen does not appear, you need to find out what the IP address of your router has been changed to. Follow our directions on the How To Find Your Router's IP Address page.

Enter your username and password, and then click the OK button to log in to your Cisco Linksys E3200 router.

Having Trouble?

Don't panic if you find yourself here. There are several things you can try.

Step 3

Now we need to find the port forwarding section in your router. Here's how you do it. Starting from the Basic Setup page in your router:

First, select the option of Applications & Gaming at the top of the page.

Then below that a new menu appears. This router has a couple different options you can use to port forward. If you are forwarding only one port or multiple but not in a range such as 22,56, and 3740 click the option of Single Port Forwarding. If you are forwarding a group of ports such as 22-64 then click the option of Port Range Forwarding.

TCP Ports: 3074

UDP Ports: 3074

Forwarding a Single Port

Make up a name to put in the Application Name box. The name does not have any effect on the functionality of the forward, it's simply there so you can know why it was created.

Enter the same port number to be forwarded into both the External Port and the Internal Port boxes.

In the Protocol box select the protocol that you want to forward these ports over.

Enter the IP address that you want to forward these ports to in the To IP Address box. You can enter either the IP address of your computer or the IP address of another computer or device on your network.

Put a checkmark in the Enabled checkbox.

Forwarding a Port Range

Make up a name to put in the Application Name box. The name does not have any effect on the functionality of the forward, it's simply there so you can know why it was created.

If you are just forwarding a single port number then you can simply enter that same number into both the Start Port and the End Port boxes. If you are forwarding a range of ports, usually separated by a hyphen, then you need to enter the lowest number of that range into the Start Port box and then enter highest number into the End Port box.

In the Protocol box select the protocol that you want to forward these ports over.

Make sure that the Enabled checkbox is checked.

When you're finished, click Save Settings at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Cisco Linksys E3200 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
