Your Huawei HG633 router protects your home network by limiting incoming connections from the internet. Sometimes it is necessary to unblock some of those connections like when you want to create a direct connection for gaming, use a specific application, or set up a new device on your network. This process is called forwarding or opening a port. In your Huawei HG633 router you many need to open a port, which means assigning a port number or set of port numbers to a specific IP address. This routes the incoming data to the correct device on your network.
Follow these steps to open a port in your Huawei HG633 router:
- On the computer or device that you are forwarding ports to, you will need to set up a static IP address.
- Login to your Huawei HG633 router.
- Navigate to the Port Mapping section in your Huawei HG633 router.
- Find the Internet tab located near the top of the screen and click on it.
- Click on the Forwarding tab, which is at the left of the screen.
- Create a port forward entry.

Step 1
In order to keep the ports in your router open, even after a reboot or disconnect, it is important to set up a static IP address in the device that you are forwarding a port to.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.
Step 2
Log in to your Huawei HG633 router. To log in you will need to use a web browser since the Huawei HG633 uses a web interface to access router configurations.
Open up whichever internet browser that you are comfortable with. If you are not sure which one to use, then go ahead and open Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.

Once you have opened a web browser, find the address bar which is usually located at the top of the screen. The image below shows an example of this.
Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your web browser and type in your router's IP address.
The Huawei HG633 router's default IP address is: 192.168.1.1
Once you have finished entering your router's IP address into the address bar, click the enter button on your keyboard. A box similar to the one below should appear.
Go ahead and enter the username and password for the Huawei HG633 router in the spaces available. Remember if you have changed them in the past, you need to enter those values.
- The default Huawei HG633 Router Username is: admin
- The default Huawei HG633 Router Password is: admin
Enter your username and password, and then click the Login button to log in to your Huawei HG633 router.

Step 3
After successfully logging in to your Huawei HG633 router you should see the router's home page on your screen. Find the Port Mapping section of your router.
Click the Internet tab, which is at the top of the screen.
Click on the Forwarding tab at the left of the screen.
You should now be on a page called Port Mapping.
Step 4
Make sure that you must open a port in your router before doing so since this will allow data to come through the firewall portion of your router to a specific device. It is possible that this could lead to malicious traffic on your network. However, don't let this warning stop you from making this change if you need it because the risk is very low.
Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:
- TCP Ports: 3074
- UDP Ports: 3074

In this router you have to first create a new Port Mapping and then bind it to your device that you are forwarding to.
Start by clicking the little plus next to New Port Mapping.
In the Name box, type in a name for this forward. This will serve as a reminder to you in the future as to why this forward was set up, so give it a name that makes sense to you.
Enter the port number into the External Port and the boxes boxes to forward a single port. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the External Port box and then enter the highest number of that range into the boxes box.
Put the lowest number of your port range in the Internal Port box.
Select TCP/UDP from the Protocol drop-down box.
Find the Save button located near the bottom of the screen and click on it.
Now you are back at the Port Mapping page and you can bind your mapping. Drop down the *Port Mapping arrow.
Enter the name that you made up in Mapping Name.
Choose the same name again from the Application drop-down box.
You need to enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to into the Internal Host box. This can be either the IP address of your computer or any other IP address on your network that you want ports forwarded to.
Make sure to click the Save button at the bottom of the page to apply these changes, when you are completely finished.
