An important aspect of having a Nucom router on your home network is internet security. In general, routers block incoming internet connections and protect your network by only allowing the connections that you specifically set up. Sometimes it is necessary to unblock certain connections in your router or open a port in order to play a game or use an application. To help you get a better connection for gaming or using an application, you can open a port in your NC-WR644GACV and allow a direct connection.
To open a port in your Nucom NC-WR644GACV router, follow these important steps:
- Set up a static IP address on the computer or device that you are forwarding ports to.
- Go ahead and log in to your Nucom NC-WR644GACV router.
- Navigate to the Virtual Server section in your Nucom NC-WR644GACV router.
- Click the Advanced Setup tab at the left of the screen.
- Click NAT.

Once you have opened a web browser, find the address bar which is usually located at the top of the screen. The image below shows an example of this.
Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your web browser and type in your router's IP address.
The Nucom NC-WR644GACV router's default IP address is: 192.168.0.1
Enter your router's IP address into the address bar of your browser and click the enter button on your keyboard. A box like the one below should appear.

Nucom Usernames and Passwords
If the username or password did not work check out our Default Nucom Router Passwords page.
If you are unable to log in even after trying the above list of passwords you may need to consider a reset for your router. Our guide How to Reset a Router can help you with that. After resetting the Nucom NC-WR644GACV router your username and password will be reverted back to factory defaults.
Step 3 - Find The Port Forwarding Section
You should be on your routers home page once you complete logging in. Find the Virtual Server section on the home page of the Nucom NC-WR644GACV router.
- Find the Advanced Setup tab located near the left of the screen and click on it.
- Click on NAT.
You should now be on a page that says Virtual Server.
Step 4 - Create A Port Forward Entry
Make sure that you must open a port in your router before doing so since this will allow data to come through the firewall portion of your router to a specific device. It is possible that this could lead to malicious traffic on your network. However, don't let this warning stop you from making this change if you need it because the risk is very low.

-
Choose your internet connection from the WAN Connection drop-down box. If you're unsure what the correct option is, your router's WAN Network Status page should tell you something.
-
Click on the button that says Add.
-
Put a check in the box marked Enable.
-
Put a name for this forward in the Description box so that you can remember why you set this forward up. The name does not matter, so pick something that has meaning to you.
-
Leave Remote IP Address blank.
-
Use the Protocol dropdown box to select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding. If your router has the option of Both, then choose that. Otherwise, choose either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP and your router does not have Both, then you have to create two entries.
-
Enter the port number into the External Port Start and the External Port End boxes to forward a single port. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the External Port Start box and then enter the highest number of that range into the External Port End box.
-
Take the same values that you entered into the External Port Start box, and enter them into the Internal Port box.
-
Find the Internal IP Address box and enter the IP address that you want ports forwarded to. This can be either the IP address of your computer or any other IP address for devices on your network that you want to forward ports for.
-
When you're finished, be sure to click the Add button.
Test If Your Ports Are Open
Finally, I strongly recommend testing to see if you forwarded the Nucom NC-WR644GACV ports correctly. To do this you can use our Network Utilities tool, which includes a free Open Port Checker. Open Port Checker is the only online port checking tool that has Guaranteed Results.
