Sagemcom Fast 5566 Router Port Forwarding Guide

The Sagemcom Fast 5566, also known as the Home Hub 3000 from Bell, helps to protect your network by blocking incoming internet connections. This is an important feature that helps you to control which applications have access to your network. Sometimes you want to allow network access to a specific application in order to play a game, connect a device, or use an app. The Sagemcom Fast 5566 can unblock certain incoming connections through port forwarding or by opening a port. You can open ports in your Fast 5566 by assigning specific ports to an IP address. Forwarding these ports directs incoming data to a specific device or application.

Follow the steps below to open ports in your Sagemcom Fast 5566 router:

1. Go ahead and set up a static IP address on the computer or device that you are forwarding these ports to.
2. Log in to your Sagemcom Fast 5566 router.
3. Navigate to the Port Forwarding section in your Sagemcom Fast 5566 router.
   • Click on the Advanced Tools and Settings button at the right of the screen.
   • Find the Port Forwarding tab at the left of the screen and click it.
4. Create a Port Forwarding entry.

Setup A Static IP Address

Set up a static IP address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This is an important step that keeps your ports open even after a reboot, power outage, or another type of device or router disconnect.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.

Login To Your Sagemcom Router

In order to login to the Sagemcom Fast 5566 router you need to use a web browser. The Sagemcom Fast 5566 router uses what is called a web interface where you can access and control router settings.

Go ahead and open up your favorite web browser. If you don't have a favorite or are not sure what this means, open up Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.

Find the address bar once you have opened up a web browser. This is usually located at the top of the page, like in the image below.

Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your web browser and type in your router's IP address.

The Sagemcom Fast 5566 router's default IP address is: 192.168.2.1

After typing your router's IP address into the address bar, make sure to click the enter button on your keyboard. You should see a box similar to the one shown below.

• Find the Modem Login button at the top of the screen and click on it.

To login, enter the username and password for the Sagemcom Fast 5566s. Important Note: If you have changed them in the past, you need to enter in those values.

• The default Sagemcom Fast 5566 Router Password is: admin

Once you enter your username and password, click the Log in button.

If you are unable to log in even after trying the above list of passwords you may need to consider a reset for your router. Our guide How to Reset a Router can help you with that. After resetting the Sagemcom Fast 5566 router your username and password will be reverted back to factory defaults.

Find the Port Forwarding Section

After successfully logging in to your Sagemcom Fast 5566 router you should see the router's home page on your screen. Find the Port Forwarding section of your router.

• Find the Advanced Tools and Settings button at the right of the screen and click on it.
• Find the Port Forwarding tab at the left of the screen and click it.

You are now on the Port Forwarding page.

Create A Port Forward

Forwarding ports in your router creates a path that allows data to get through your network firewall, and this could lead to malicious traffic on your network. So make sure that you must forward a port before actually doing so. However, the risk is very low, so do not let this warning stop you from making this change if you need to.

Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:

• TCP Ports: 3074
• UDP Ports: 3074

1. Click on the button that says Create a New Rule.

2. Make up a name to put in the Name box. The name does not have any effect on the functionality of the forward; it's simply there so you can know why it was created.

3. Select the protocol type of the ports that you are forwarding from the Protocol dropdown box. If your router has the option of Both, then go ahead and select that. Otherwise, select either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP, but your router does not have Both, then you will need to create two entries.

4. Go ahead and enter the port number into the left External Port and the right External Port boxes, to forward a single port. To forward a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the left External Port box and then enter the highest number of that range into the right External Port box.

5. Enter the exact same values that you put in the left External Port box, into the left Internal Port box.

6. In the Local IP Address / Device Name box, enter the IP address that you want ports forwarded to. This may be the IP address of your computer or the IP address of another device on your network that you want to forward ports to. Or if it's listed, you can just select it from the list.

7. To finish adding an entry, click on the Save button at the right of the screen.

8. Remember to click the Save button at the bottom of the page to apply these changes when you are completely finished.

Test If Your Ports Are Open
