In this guide we show you how to port forward the Technicolor TC7200 router.

Before we begin I want to explain a tiny bit about firewalls. First of all the Technicolor TC7200 router has a basic firewall. This is to help protect your home network against unwanted access from the Internet. A firewall basically blocks all connections to and from the Internet unless your router tells it otherwise. Some connections are open in order for you to actually use the Internet.

If you are wanting to unblock a connection for a game or application you are wanting to open a port. This process is more commonly called a port forward. A port forward literally forwards a port or connection through your firewall and directs it at a device of your choosing on your home network.

The basic process to open a port on the Technicolor TC7200 router is:

  1. Setup a static IP address on either your computer or device that you want to forward a port to.
  2. Login to your Technicolor TC7200 router.
  3. Navigate to the port forwarding section.
    • Click the Advanced link.
    • Click on Forwarding.
    • Click the Add row button.
  4. Create a port forward entry or rule.

We will walk you each and every step in the process to get your ports open on the Technicolor TC7200 router.

We think that forwarding a port should be easy. That's why we created Network Utilities. Our software does everything that you need to forward a port.

When you use Network Utilities you get your port forwarded right now!

Step 1

It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

This step is important because you want a permanent IP address in your device. If you do not set up a permanent IP address in your device, then when you device reboots it may get a new IP address.

Use a VPN Instead

Have you considered using a VPN instead of forwarding a port? For most users, a VPN is a much simpler and more secure choice than forwarding a port.

NordVPN faster than ever deal!

We use and recommend NordVPN because not only is it the fastest VPN, it includes a new feature called Meshnet that makes forwarding a port no longer necessary for most applications. With NordVPN Meshnet, you can connect to your devices from anywhere in the world, completely secure, over a highly encrypted VPN tunnel.

Every time you click on one of our affiliate links, such as NordVPN, we get a little kickback for introducing you to the service. Think of us as your VPN wingman.

Step 2

It is now time to login to the Technicolor TC7200 router. This router has a web user interface. This means if you want to change settings on your router you need to first open a web browser. It doesn't matter which one (just pick your favorite). Some common choices are Edge, Safari, Internet Explorer, and Chrome.

After opening your browser find the address bar at the top of the page. It should look like this:

Enter the port to forward into both the Public Port Range and the Target Port Range boxes.

Enter the IP address that you want to forward these ports to into the Target IP Address box. Note that if you are forwarding ports so you can run a program on a device other than your computer then you can enter your device's IP address into that box instead.

Select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding from the Protocol box.

When you're finished, click the SAVE button near the bottom of the screen to apply your changes.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Once your ports have been forwarded on the Technicolor TC7200 router you need to test them to see if the ports were forwarded correctly. To test the ports I recommend using our Network Utilities tool, which includes a free Open Port Checker.

Our Open Port Checker is the only one online that has Guaranteed Results.
