How to Port Forward a Technicolor TC7210.dNZ Router

Did you know this Technicolor TC7210.dNZ router has a basic firewall to help protect your home network from unwanted access from the Internet. This process of blocking ports is what a firewall does. When you need one or more of these ports unblocked it is called a port forward.

Step 1

It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

This step is important because you want a permanent IP address in your device. If you do not set up a permanent IP address in your device, then when you device reboots it may get a new IP address.

Use a VPN Instead

Step 2

Now we are going to login to your Technicolor TC7210.dNZ router. This router has a web interface, so you need to login to it using your web browser. This can be either Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari. It usually does not matter which browser you decide to use.

Open up your web browser and find the address bar. It should look something like this:

At this point you should see the authentication box like this:

This box is asking for a password and username. Go ahead and enter the login values of your Technicolor TC7210.dNZ router.

• The Default Technicolor TC7210.dNZ Router Password is: admin

Enter your username and password, and then click the OK button to login to your Technicolor TC7210.dNZ router.

Having Trouble?

This is an extremely common place to get stuck. If you find yourself here, there are several things you can do:

Step 3

This step involves finding the port forwarding section of your router. To do that let's start on the Status page of the device:

First, you are going to click the Advanced link at the top of the page.

Now, click the option in the left sidebar labeled Forwarding.

You should now see a page like the one above. Select the link in the center section of the page labeled Create IPv4.

Step 4

Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:

• TCP Ports: 3074
• UDP Ports: 3074

Enter the IP address that you want to forward these ports to into the Local IP Address box. Note that if you are forwarding ports so you can run a program on a device other than your computer then you can enter your device's IP address into that box instead.

If you are forwarding a range of ports then you need to enter the lowest number of the range into the Local Start Port and External Start Port boxes and the highest number of the range into the Local End Port and External End Port boxes. If you are only forwarding a single port then you can enter that same port number into the Local Start Port, Local End Port, External Start Port and External End Port boxes.

Select the required protocol for these ports from the Protocol dropdown box.

Create a name for this forward and put it in the Description box. The name is only used as a reminder and has no effect on the port forward.

Use the Enabled dropdown box to pick On.

When you are done click the Apply button.

Make sure to click the Apply button after each entry.

That's it, you are finished.

Testing if Your Ports are Open

After a port forward you need to test them to be sure they forwarded successfully. In order to do this we recommend using our Open Port Checker found in our Network Utilities free trial. Our port checker uses a local application to listen for the server trying to connect. This way we can confirm whether your port is forwarded or not.
