Your AD2700 router helps to protect your network by blocking incoming internet connections. This is an important feature that helps you to control which applications have access to your network. Sometimes you want to allow network access to a specific application in order to play a game, connect a device, or use an app. The TP-Link AD2700 can unblock certain incoming connections through port forwarding or by opening a port. You can open ports in your AD2700 by assigning specific ports to an IP address. Forwarding these ports directs incoming data to a specific device or application.
In order to open ports in your TP-Link AD2700 router, you need to:
- On the computer or device that you are forwarding ports to, you will need to set up a static IP address.
- Login to your TP-Link AD2700 router.
- In your TP-Link AD2700 router, navigate to the Virtual Servers section.
- Click on the Advanced tab, which is at the top of the screen.
- Click the NAT Forwarding tab, which is at the left of the screen.
- Find the Virtual Servers link located near the left of the screen and click on it.
- Go ahead and create a Virtual Servers entry.
The process of opening ports in your TP-Link AD2700 router may seem daunting. Remember, however, that you are not alone and do not have to feel discouraged. Let us walk you through the steps for opening ports in your router. Let's get this figured out!

Step 1
It is important to set up a static IP address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.
Step 2
The TP-Link AD2700 router uses a web interface to display router settings. In order to login to the TP-Link AD2700 router you need to use a web browser.
Open your favorite web browser. If you don't have a favorite or are not sure what this means, open up Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. If you are already in a browser window, go ahead and open up a new tab.

Find the address bar in your browser window. This is usually found at the top of the page, like in the image below.
Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your web browser and type in your router's IP address.
The TP-Link AD2700 router's default IP address is: 192.168.0.1
After typing your router's IP address into the address bar, make sure to click the enter button on your keyboard. You should see a box similar to the one shown below.
Enter the username and password for your TP-Link AD2700 router. Note: If you have changed these numbers in the past, you will need to enter in the those values.
- The default TP-Link AD2700 Router Username is: none
- The default TP-Link AD2700 Router Password is: created during intial setup
Once you have entered your username and password, remember to click the Log In button to login to your TP-Link AD2700 router.

If, after trying the above list of passwords you still can't log in, you may need to reset your router. Learn how to do that by reading our How to Reset a Router guide. After resetting the TP-Link AD2700 router your username and password are reverted back to factory defaults. Router settings may also change when you reset, so make a note of your current router settings before you reset.
Step 3
After a successful login to the TP-Link AD2700 router you should be on the home page of your router. Now you need to find the Virtual Servers section.
Find the Advanced tab at the top of the screen and click it.
Find the NAT Forwarding tab located near the left of the screen and click on it.
Click on the Virtual Servers link at the left of the screen.
You should now be on a page called Virtual Servers.
Step 4
Forwarding ports in your router creates a path that allows data to get through your network firewall, and this could lead to malicious traffic on your network. So make sure that you must forward a port before actually doing so. However, the risk is very low, so do not let this warning stop you from making this change if you need to.
Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:
- TCP Ports: 3074
- UDP Ports: 3074

To start creating an entry, click on the link called Add.
- Type in a name for this forward in the Service Type box. Choose a name that will help you remember why this forward was set up since it does not affect the functionality of the forward.
- Enter the port number into the External Port box to forward a single port. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the whole range into the External Port box.
- In the Internal IP box, enter the IP address that you want ports forwarded to. This may be the IP address of your computer or the IP address of another device on your network that you want to forward ports to.
- Enter the exact same values that you put in the External Port box, into the Internal Port box.
- Select the protocol type of the ports that you are forwarding from the All dropdown box. If your router has the option of Both, then go ahead and select that. Otherwise, select either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP, but your router does not have Both, then you will need to create two entries.
- Make sure that the box called Enable This Entry is checked.
- Make sure to click the OK button at the bottom of the page to apply these changes, when you are completely finished.
