The TP-Link Archer C1900 router uses a firewall to help protect your home network from potential Internet threats. The firewall does this by blocking all connections (ports) unless otherwise specified. For you to unblock some of these connections you need to create a port forward.
In this guide we will be walking you through each step in the port forwarding process. We will show you how to:
- Setup a static IP address for the device you are forwarding these ports to.
- Login to your TP-Link Archer C1900 router.
- Find the port forwarding section of your router's interface.
- Create a port forward entry on your router.

Step 1
It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

This step is important because you want a permanent IP address in your device. If you do not set up a permanent IP address in your device, then when you device reboots it may get a new IP address.
Use a VPN Instead

Step 2
Now that you have finished setting up a static IP address you need to login to your router. Your TP-Link Archer C1900 router uses a web interface which means you need to open a web browser in order to login to the device settings.
It doesn't matter what browser you decide to use, just pick your favorite. Some common options are Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Edge.
After you have picked your browser, open it up and find the address bar. Normally this is at the top of the page:
Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your router and type in your router's IP address.
The default TP-Link Archer C1900 IP Address is: 192.168.0.1
Now, press the Enter key. If everything went as it should have, you will see a login page like this:
Simply enter the router's username and password into the spaces provided. Then click the green Login button to access your router.
- The Default TP-Link Archer C1900 Router Username is: admin
- The Default TP-Link Archer C1900 Router Password is: password
Having Trouble?
If you are unable to login, there are several things you can try:
- First, try other TP-Link usernames/password combinations. If you have a slightly different firmware version you may also have a different username and password. Here is our list of Default TP-Link Router Passwords.
- Our next suggestion is to try and guess what you changed the username and password to. We have a Find Password App that makes thousands of guesses for you in order to recover your password. Learn more about it on this Find Password App page.
- As a final option, you could do a hard reset to your router. This erases all configurations you have made to your router including the username and password. If you decide to reset the router you will then use the default values to access the interface. Learn how to reset the router on this How to Reset a Router page.
Step 3
Congratulations on logging into your router. Now we will help you find the port forwarding section of the TP-Link Archer C1900 router. We begin on the Basic Network Map page.
On this first page, click the option at the top of the page labeled Advanced.
In the left sidebar click the link labeled Forwarding.
This opens a sub-menu. Pick the new option labeled Virtual Servers.
You are now directed to a page like the one you see above. Click the link in the center section of the page labeled Add New...
Step 4
Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:
- TCP Ports: 3074
- UDP Ports: 3074

Enter the same port number to be forwarded into the Service Port and the Internal Port boxes.
You need to enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to in the IP Address box. It's possible for this to be either the IP address of your computer or any other IP address on your network that you want ports forwarded to.
In the Protocol box select the protocol that you want to forward these ports over.
Use the Status dropdown box to select Enabled.
Click the Save button when you are done.
When you are finished, be sure to click the Save button.
Testing Your Ports
