The **TP-Link Kibosh TL-WR1043ND ** router has a firewall that helps to keep your home network protected from unwanted Internet access. The firewall does this by blocking all the incoming and outgoing connections from your network unless otherwise specified. In order to open these ports or connections up for a game or other online application you need to create a port forward for that game or program for a specific device on your network.

In this guide we will show you exactly how to do this. We will walk you through each of the following steps:

We think that forwarding a port should be easy. That's why we created Network Utilities. Our software does everything that you need to forward a port.

Get Started Now!

When you use Network Utilities you get your port forwarded right now!

Step 1

It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

This step is important because you want a permanent IP address in your device. If you do not set up a permanent IP address in your device, then when you device reboots it may get a new IP address.

Use a VPN Instead

Have you considered using a VPN instead of forwarding a port? For most users, a VPN is a much simpler and more secure choice than forwarding a port.

NordVPN faster than ever deal!

We use and recommend NordVPN because not only is it the fastest VPN, it includes a new feature called Meshnet that makes forwarding a port no longer necessary for most applications. With NordVPN Meshnet, you can connect to your devices from anywhere in the world, completely secure, over a highly encrypted VPN tunnel.

Every time you click on one of our affiliate links, such as NordVPN, we get a little kickback for introducing you to the service. Think of us as your VPN wingman.

NOTE: Write this static IP address down on a slip of paper. You need it a little later in step 4.

Step 2

It is now time to login to the TP-Link Kibosh TL-WR1043ND router. To do this:

  • Second, try to guess what it might be. There is a good chance you changed the username and/or the password and simply forgot. If you need a little extra help, use our Find Password App. It does the guessing for you. If you want to learn more about it, read this Find Password App page.
  • Finally, you may need to reset the TP-Link Kibosh TL-WR1043ND router. This erases all configurations you have ever changed. This last option you should only use as a last resort. Learn how to reset a router on this How to Reset a Router page.

Forwarding a Single Port

Put a name for this forward in the Description box so that you can remember why you set this forward up. The name does not matter so pick something that has meaning to you.

Use the Protocol dropdown box to select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding.

Enter the same port number to be forwarded into both the From Port and the To Port boxes.

Enter the IP address that you want to forward these ports to into the To IP box. Note that if you are forwarding ports so you can run a program on a device other than your computer then you can enter your device's IP address into that box instead.

Click the Add button when you are finished.

Forwarding a Port Range

Make up a name to put in the Description box. The name does not have any effect on the functionality of the forward, it's simply there so you can know why it was created.

Use the Protocol dropdown box to select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding.

If you are just forwarding a single port number then you can simply enter that same number into both the Start Port and the End Port boxes. If you are forwarding a range of ports, usually separated by a hyphen, then you need to enter the lowest number of that range into the Start Port box and then enter highest number into the End Port box.

Enter the IP address that you want to forward these ports to in the To IP box. You can enter either the IP address of your computer or the IP address of another computer or device on your network.

When you are all done click the Add button.

When you are finished, click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page .

Test if Your Ports are Open

Time to check if your ports forwarded correctly. We recommend using our FREE Open Port Checker. Our Open Port Checker uses a local application to see if the server is listening on the selected ports.
