How to Open Ports in a TP-Link Touch P5 Router

This TP-Link Touch P5 router has a firewall that helps to protect your local home network from unwanted Internet access. The firewall does this by blocking all incoming and outgoing connections that are not considered safe. Sometimes you have a game or program that will run smoother if you had a few additional connections opened. In order to open these connections you have to tell the firewall that they are safe. This is typically called a port forward.

In this guide we will walk you through every step in the process of making a port forward. These steps are:

Step 1

It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

This step is important because you want a permanent IP address in your device. If you do not set up a permanent IP address in your device, then when you device reboots it may get a new IP address.

Step 2

In order to login to the TP-Link Touch P5 router you need to use a web browser because the router uses a web interface menu. It normally doesn't matter which browser you use. We recommend using a browser such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.

Once you have decided on the web browser, simply open it up and find the address bar. This is typically at the top of the page like this:

Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your router and type in your router's IP address.

The default TP-Link Touch P5 IP Address is: 192.168.0.1

After you have entered the IP address in the address bar, click the Enter key on your keyboard. This should send you to an authentication page like this:

Do you see a space for a username and password? This is the correct page.

The Default TP-Link Touch P5 Router Username is: admin
The Default TP-Link Touch P5 Router Password is: admin

Of course if you have changed the router's default values, be sure to enter that username and password instead.

Having Trouble?

This is a very common place to get stuck. Here are a few things you can do to help ge past this spot:

If that did not work, it is because you changed the username and password in the past and don't remember what you changed it to. Try to guess what you changed it to. If nothing else works, it might be time to consider a factory reset. A reset like this will erase every single personal setting you have ever changed in the past. Step 3

It is time to find the port forwarding section of your TP-Link Touch P5 router. We begin on the Home page of the TP-Link Touch P5 router.

After logging in you should be on the page you see above. Do you see the three dots near the bottom of the page? The first dot is highlighted meaning you are on the first of three pages. Use your finger to swipe from right to left on the screen. This should take you to the following page:

Scrolling over one more time should give you a third page that has the option of Advanced. Go ahead and select that button.

You should be taken to the page you see above. Once on this page, click the option in the left sidebar labeled NAT Forwarding.

This opens up a new menu, click the new option of Virtual Servers.

On this new page, press the green link in the center section of the page labeled + Add.

You are now on the correct page to make a port forward entry.

Step 4

UDP Ports: 3074

Make up a name to put in the Service Type box. The name does not have any effect on the functionality of the forward, it's simply there so you can know why it was created.

Enter the port to forward into the External Port and the Internal Port boxes.

Enter the IP address to forward these ports to into the Internal IP box. If you are forwarding ports so you can run a program on a device other than your computer then you can enter your device's IP address into that box.

Select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding from the Protocol box.

In the Enable This Entry checkbox put a checkmark.

Click the OK button when you are done.

Make sure to click the green OK button after each entry.

Congratulations, you have created a port forward on the TP-Link Touch P5 router.
